A LIFELONG PURSIT OF MUSIC AND LEARNING
Sharon began her formal voice training at the age of 14 with the late Carlo Lifavi Menotti of New York City. She went on to earn a four-year scholarship to Syracuse University’s College of Visual and Performing Arts where she studied voice, piano, composition, and music business, culminating in a Bachelors of Music degree. Upon graduation, Sharon moved to New York City where she worked in both the classical and commercial fields of the music industry. She held marketing and production roles for companies such as Columbia Artists Management Inc., PolyGram Diversified Entertainment, and Phillips Music Group. She was also part of the production team for Woodstock ’94 under Michael Lang, Joel Rosenman, John Roberts, and John Scher. She continued to study voice and songwriting privately with teachers from the Manhattan School of Music and Mannes/New School of Music.
Sharon is equal parts teacher and perpetual student of the vocal arts. After she completed the Institute of Vocal Advancement (IVA)’s 10-year program and achieved the highest level of certification—Mentor (Level 5)—they invited her to be an Ambassador teacher, training both singers and other vocal coaches. With her unique background in formal music training, vocal skill, and performance history, Sharon brings rich experience and knowledge to her teaching. Her passion for music and learning is even stronger today than when she first sat down at a piano at 6 years old. Sharon is currently pursuing a Masters of Vocal Pedagogy to further her expertise and is the proud vocal coach to students all over the world.
